I love doing portraits. It's one of the most enjoyable things an artist can create. Since we're all human (right?), and constantly identify with each other, it's easy to become fascinated when creating one on canvas. I paint them almost exclusively in oils. There is nothing like capturing a person's essence in a medium uniquely different from photography. I prefer to work from a very crisp photograph, and I will work out pricing and sizing before my brush makes that first stroke. These can be great for gifts and special occasions.

A nice oil portrait is forever. Truly.
